PTA Voluntary Contribution

10-January-23

Re: Voluntary Contribution 2022/23

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We are once again seeking your support through our voluntary contribution scheme.

Thank you to those of you who are already subscribing, we are very grateful for your continued support. All monies raised by MEC PTA are spent by the association for the benefit of all our children on the MEC Campus.

You might ask what the MEC PTA need money for, and indeed, we have spent your money supporting a whole range of activities.

What the PTA supported in recent years:

  • Musical After Show Party for all TY students – which is returning this year after a two-year absence. (Covid-19 pandemic)
  • Musical Rights for the annual show
  • Catering supplies for a variety of school events including First Year Welcome Ceremony, First Year parent/guardian coffee morning, AGM, Careers Night, Christmas Concert, Mock Interview Night and other events
  • Guest speaker for the AGM
  • Supporting Science Week/Numeracy Week/Literacy Week Activities on campus
  • Supporting Transport to extracurricular activities including the Choir, Debating team and various sport teams
  • First year TY mentoring program including purchasing of game consoles and games for break time competitions and the end of year party

How you can help: We are very mindful that families are under constant financial pressure so any amount that you can afford to pay will be much appreciated and will make a difference to the work of the PTA. We suggest an annual amount of €30, €50, €80 or €100 depending on family circumstances. This is a family amount and not an amount per child.

How you can pay: Many families choose to pay the voluntary contribution either monthly or quarterly via a Standing Order. Others make a once off payment either through the bank, or by cash/cheque. We are happy to receive your contribution at any stage during the year. Your contribution is voluntary and is dealt with in confidence solely by the Treasurer. All contributions of any amount are very much appreciated and every single euro that we receive enables us to make a difference in the many aspects of your children’s school journey.

Please Note: Due to the closure of the Ulster Bank, we recently moved our account to the AIB Bank. All parents who are currently paying the voluntary subscription by standing order/direct debit need to change it to our new AIB account.

Invitation to attend monthly meetings: All parents are invited to attend PTA meetings which normally take place at 8 pm on the second Tuesday of each month during the school year. Please note the date and venue may be subject to change but you can follow the meeting dates on our Facebook page or the school app. The PTA may be contacted at mecpta2014@gmail.com or follow us on Facebook or Instagram.
