We are excited to welcome Eric Donovan, the boxer, and newly crowned European featherweight champion to talk to our students tomorrow Friday.
He is currently on special forces on RTE raising money for Cuan Mhuire mental health and addiction service in Athy where he also volunteers as a counsellor.
Last Saturday he heroically won the continental title in a titanic battle. It is important to mark this occasion as it’s not every day we have a local person as a champion.
Let's all make sure our students are fully informed as to who is coming in tomorrow and what he signifies, it would be great to create that bit of deserved fanfare, he is certainly worthy of it. Hup dah lillies!
Eric is an ideal speaker for our MCC Wellbeing and Active Week. Coming in the week in which he has won a continental title is a real coup for the campus and will certainly augment the well-being initiatives going on across the campus. This is all so vital for our students to gain further resilience in these post-covid times.
Eric will be speaking to junior cycle students at nine in the sports hall and senior cycle students at ten.
